Gail Lasher, for Village Trustee
Statement to come.
Robert Scott, for Village Trustee
I am 49 years old and a lifelong Village of Athens resident and taxpayer. I have owned the family home, that I have lived in my entire life, since 2005. I have served for 2 decades on the Village of Athens Police Department as a Police Officer, eventually being promoted to the rank of Sergeant (Retired April 2015). I have also been employed with the Village of Catskill Police Department as a part-time Police Officer in 2001-2002. I am also certified as a Police Supervisor in New York State (NYS Course in Police Supervision). More recently, I served as a full-time Deputy Sheriff with the Greene County Sheriff’s Office, from which I retired in April 2016. I am still employed part-time as a Deputy Sheriff with Greene County. I have also served on the Greene County Sheriff’s Office Color / Honor Guard Detail and have received several letters of commendations during my career. Currently I am employed full-time with Sleepy Hollow Lake Dept. of Public Safety, as a Public Safety Officer. I have previously served as a Village of Athens Trustee from April 1, 2017 to March 31, 2018 (Appointed) and from April 1, 2019 to March 31, 2021 (Elected). While serving as Village Trustee I was appointed as liason of Dept. of Public Works. I have led in the design and construction of a 90′ x 54′ Dept. of Public Works building, which I am proud to say is completed and the DPW employees have been working out of this new facility since last March 2021. This new building utilizes LED lighting and radiant floor heating, which equates to a modern energy efficient facility. Other projects I have worked with my fellow board members on were obtaining grant funding, new management for our Water & Sewer Treatment in 2018, passing an updated Comprehensive Plan, replacing 2 aging trucks for our DPW. I have coordinated the sales of surplus Village owned vehicles & equipment, resulting in over $11,000 in sales for the Village. Lobbied to put the lawn mowing contract for the Village parks back out to bid for a 2nd time, resulting in a roughly $13,000 savings to the Village. During my previous years as Village Trustee, I have always worked with my fellow board members in a bipartisan effort for the good of our community. I have always firmly believed in working together as a team. I have dedicated more than half of my life serving my community and look forward to continuing to serve you, if elected. Myself and my running mate Gail Lasher would appreciate your support on Tuesday March 15, 2022 for the Village of Athens Elections!THANK YOU!!
